A Little Less Conversation, A Little More Action

Heading to KCI

Along with everyone else I have been stuck in the snow. Yesterday I ventured out to produce a call-in podcast. I should have just figured out a way to hijack Skype or iChat and streamed that.

Last night about eleven was the first time our street had seen a plow come through. The plow got stuck. Before that the only way the road was easily passable was with four-wheel drive. You could make it with a smaller vehicle if you didn’t mind digging yourself out every so often. Even with my Jeep I ended up having to dig myself out. Some jackmonkey had double parked on our road. As I squeezed between the double parked car and the car buried on the other side of the road I ran into a snowbank. As I got out of the car cursing the whiteout conditions and my inconsiderate neighbor I sunk knee-deep into the snow. Like the murky bottom of a summertime swimming hole I knew I wasn’t touching the bottom.

The most annoying thing about the snow and being stuck somewhere has got to be how slowly time passes and how people lack the skills to deal with it. I normally bust my ass getting my job done in a timely manner, especially with the amount of work and interuotions that pile up in a day. When snow falls and people can only stare at a screen and email complaints about how slow things are getting posted even though final approval only just happened, busting your ass goes unappreciated.

I guess I better listen to that Elvis song again.
