ARGH!

Angry HIs it just me or are tech companies getting worse and worse at customer service and still charging a premium for their products? Is the Microsoft model of the mid to late 1990’s now the path that Apple and Adobe feel they must take?

I am installing Adobe Creative Suite 5 for the second time today. It seems every new version of CS gets more and more bloated and performs like crap. Maybe CS should stand for Crap Suite.

I just re-booted the MacBook I was installing on and I will let it go through its start-up machinations before even attempting to boot up one of the CS5 apps. Earlier today I couldn’t get Dreamweaver, one of the core tools I use on a daily basis, to do anything other than act like it was starting up.

I went through Adobe’s forums looking for a solution and found many complaints about the same thing. After the re-install Dreamweaver is still hanging. This is becoming a PITA to say the least.

I am now at the stage where I will start to try lots of kludgy, “backwoods” methods of fixing this crap. I am sure after much wasted time I will figure out why it hangs.

And in case anyone cares I actually side with Adobe in the Adobe vs Apple No Flash/Flash fiasco. I do think Adobe needs to clean up the big pile of garbage they are now calling their creative suite but Apple needs to get over the fact that people like Flash and that HTML5 is too far away from full scale adoption. Adobe – get Flash to work right across all platforms and slim it down to a reasonable size. Apple – Don’t be Microsoft. They got their ass handed to them by the US Government and the EU. You have more than started down that road. Check your ego, listen to the people that buy your products (this is being written on an iPad) and let Flash run on the iProducts.

I am now going to focus my attention on getting this POS suite to work right.

5/13 Update: This fixed it. (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2776898#2776898). What a kludge!
