It’s been a awhile but worth a listen

Guns of Navarone by DC band Maritime. An older song, at least by today’s calendar, found its way into my ears the other day. I decided to let iTunes do its thing with the genius playlist. For the last couple of hours I have let that playlist run and I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised. Yeah, yeah you might say “well it is your music, you should like it” but I have often found that there are always a few songs I have to trim from those random, mathamatically generated playlists.

So far I have only dumped one song.

The other thing that has surprised me is the variety in ages, tempos and flavors of these songs. I can’t really say genre since it is pretty much all indie/alternative rock.

Listening to the Guns of Navarone and writing this post made me think of the first time I shared this song with some one. It was with my then six-year old son, my eldest child. We listened to that song every day as I drove him the two blocks to school before heading off to work.

I don’t know when we stopped listening to it but I am glad I found it again and if you get a chance take a listen
